NCTE Approval

The College was accorded recognition by the National Council for Teacher Education for sanction of B.Ed course , vie order No.F/SRO/NCTE/ 1998-99/1058 dtd.15-7-1998.

The strength of the College and Optional Subjects

From the academic year 2009-10, the NCTE has sanctioned an additional intake of 100 students( Order No. FSRC/NCTE/2009/B.Ed-A1/R0/13335) and the university has sanctioned an intake of 200 for B.Ed Course (Order no. AcB.1/31844/2010 dated 8/9/2010), 100 Merit Seats and 100 Management Seats. Merit seats are filled by collegiate education based on merit. Management seats are filled by an interview conducted by the principal and management.

 

The intake is in the following six optional subjects prescribed for the B.Ed. Degree Course.

M.Ed Course (Non Credit and Semester System – Non CSS)

The college started the M.Ed course on 13/09/2010 .The college was sanctioned M.Ed Course during the academic year 2010-11 onwards with an intake of 25 students. The NCTE has sanctioned an intake of 35 students from 2010-11 academic year onwards (Order no: FSRO/NCTE /2010-11/20570, dated 20/8/2010) and University of Kerala sanctioned an intake of 35 students. from 2011-12 academic year onwards (No. Ac.B1/53079/2010 dated 6/12/2010 ).

Out of 35, 18 merit seats and 17 management seats. Merit seats are filled by an entrance examination conducted by university of Kerala. Management seats are filled by an interview conducted by the principal and management.

 Eligibility for Admission

 B.Ed Course

Candidates should have passed the B.A /B.Sc degree examination under the 10+2+3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects, from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any other university recognized by any of the universities in kerala as equivalent there to for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding marks.

The minimum requirement of marks for admission to B.Ed course is 50% in bachelors degree (Science /Arts Subjects) in aggregate (ie for part 1+2+3 or 50% for part 3).

The different optional subjects offered are English, Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic, Tamil, Sanskrit, Urdu (Languages). Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science,Social science, Geography, Commerce, Information technology, Computer Sciences.

Candidates who have secured M.Com degree with not less than 45% marks are eligible for admission to the B.Ed Course in Commerce.For Information Technology and Computer Science MCA/M Sc.Computer science with a minimum of 45% marks.

M.Ed Course

Eligibility for admission to the course:

  1. I)A Minimum of 50% Marks for B Ed Degree Examination from a recognized university.
  2. II)A minimum of 50% marks for M.A/ M.Sc. DegreeExamination from a recognized university.

III) SC/ST candidates should have a minimum of 45% marks for B Ed Degree Examination.

  1. IV)SEBC/OBCcandidates should have a minimum of 48% marks for B Ed Degree Examination.
  2. V)Whereas separate aggregate marks are awarded for Theory and Practical for B.Ed Degree Examination ,candidate should have 50% in each theory and practical.
  3. VI)The Post-Graduate Degreeshould be in the relevant subject for which admission is sought for M. Ed.

Seminars
Each Student shall conduct a minimum of 2 seminars in each core Papers and electives in Semester 1 and Semester 2
Assignments
Each student shall submit a minimum of 2 assignments in each core papers and electives in Sem1 and Sem 2. The topic for the assignments shall be given by the concerned teachers and after evaluation the same shall be given back to the students.
Thesis 
Each student shall submit a thesis at least 15 days before the commencement of ends semester examination. The thesis should be on some educational theme related to the candidates field of specialization. The report should be approximately 10000 to 20000 words depending up on the nature of the topic. The thesis shall be written in English and 4 copies of the summery .
Viva-voce
A viva-voce examination shall be held on research methodology and the thesis .The viva voce examination will be conducted by a board. The students shall compulsorily attend the viva voce .
Evaluation 
The Evaluation of the course shall be made and the result shall be indicated as percentage of marks .The minimum marks required for successful completion of each paper shall be 50% with a separate minimum of 40% marks for ESA for each subject . There shall also be a separate minimum of 50% marks for thesis as well.

Daily Routine

Every working day starts with assembly comprising of morning prayer followed by pledge taking, news reading (English and Malayalam) .Thought for each day is presented by teacher trainees. The assembly is concluded by the principal’s message.

Result

We are happy that we are able to produce nearly cent percent result for the B.Ed.Degree Examinations of the University of Kerala.
